Regulating Your Nervous System
Day 3
How do you regulate your nervous system?
There is a difference between nervous system regulation tools that we use in the moment like: the Box breath, tapping, shaking, exercising, dancing, going outside, walking around, talking to someone,
And really resourcing and resting ourselves.
Yesterday we focused on those longer resourcing activities that really soothe and nourish your nervous system. Today we are thinking about ‘in the moment’ actions that help you to feel more calm, lower your heart rate and bring you back to the present moment, out of the hypothetical worry in your mind, ready to respond to the situation.
Once we have identified that we are feeling triggered we need to press pause because our nervous system is over stimulated, we need to reset, to be bale to respond with accountability and integrity.
Reflection:
1) What helps you move out of the fight or flight response and back into a responsive state?
2) What is one commitment that you can make today that will you to regulate your nervous system?
